Four very different (but each very gay) dancers, gathered around an unlikely score: Antoine Pickel’s well-known Essai de pédesthétique, both a rejection of “homosexual” identity and a call for a gay attitude to the world.

From the idea that this queer esthetic could be the foundation of an active thought that wouldn’t give in to the pressures of community, nor to the disavowals of integration; an incarnation of the concepts at work in the text, fragments of which are recited by the dancers (in various languages), as well as recorded and projected.

On stage: certain versatile devices for discussion, a round table or conference table rapidly perverted, and certainly a clothing rack.

In terms of process: substantial theatrical matter (literary, plastic, cinematographic), close at hand, which will nourish, without literality, the forms developed on stage, beyond the scathing formulas and sonorous slogans.

A gesture of queer esthetics is consequently a political gesture. Text and images are a source from which the creators associated with the project could draw on to render their own, necessarily kaleidoscopic, interpretation.
